Why Being Seen Is the First Step to Healing

Have you ever felt the ache of someone else’s pain — so deeply that you wanted to fix it, take it away, or do anything to make it better?

I sat in a recent somatic healing session, holding space for someone who was moving through profound loneliness. The kind of loneliness that echoes through your bones. It was hard to witness — not because I didn’t care, but because I did… so much. I wanted to fix it. Say the right thing. Offer the magic words that would take it all away.

What I Want: A Personal Shift Back to Alignment

But then something softer whispered inside me:
What if your only job is to witness?
To sit.
To listen.
To let their pain be seen.

That moment opened something in me.

How often have I tried to hide my own loneliness, my fear, my deep desire to be seen — even when I didn’t feel safe? There’s a part of us that’s been told to stay small, to play nice, to dim our light so no one feels uncomfortable.

But that part of us — the one that aches to be acknowledged — is the magic.

Visibility Isn’t Always Easy

For a long time, I associated being visible with danger.
Maybe you’ve felt it too — that if you shine too brightly, someone might try to dim you. That if you share your truth, it might not be welcomed.
I get it.
There were times when being visible wasn’t safe.
And that pain runs deep.

But healing doesn’t begin by pushing past the fear — it begins by acknowledging it.

When I finally gave voice to why visibility didn’t feel safe for me… something shifted.
Suddenly, I wasn’t alone with it anymore.
And with that release came a deeper strength. A remembering of who I am.

One of the tools that’s helped me recently is a simple prayer by Tosha Silver:

“Change me, Divine Beloved, to be and feel safe visibly.
I trust You support me in all ways and trust that You are my protection.
I am Yours, You are mine, We are One.”

When I say this, something inside me exhales.
My heart softens.
My light steadies.

Owning My Magic Looks Like This…

These days, I’m being called to speak to groups, to lead tea ceremonies, to share my work more openly and boldly. It’s still tender sometimes, but it’s no longer terrifying.

Owning my magic feels like confidence rooted in truth — not performance.
It’s not faking it ‘til I make it.
It’s radiating from the inside out.
It’s showing up with my heart open and my feet grounded.
It’s knowing I’m guided and protected.

And I believe the same is possible for you.

Reflection Invitation

Take a moment to sit with these questions:

🌟 Where in your life are you still playing small?
🌟 What part of you is longing to be witnessed — not fixed, just seen?
🌟 What would owning your magic look like today?

You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

If you’re ready to explore the part of you that’s been quietly waiting to shine, I invite you to book a free Discovery Session with me. We’ll take a gentle, supportive look at your magic and what it wants to say.
